The Gulf Coast Bird Observatory is a research and education facility in Lake Jackson that coordinates data on migrating and resident avifauna. The observatory sits on 34 acres of Columbia Bottomland forest with self-guided nature trails. It is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and on weekends by appointment. The GCBO hosts FREE bird-banding programs on the third Saturday of every month.
